Lavia and Fofana hint, new injury blow - Three things spotted in Chelsea training for Leicester

Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca will be hoping to hand out more injury returns for Sunday's Premier League clash against Leicester City. Trevoh Chalobah and Benoit Badiashile were both back in the starting XI for the Conference League first leg victory against Copenhagen after varying spells unavailable.

Two defensive returns has come at a great time for Maresca with the Blues struggling at the back but there are still several attackers absent. Nicolas Jackson, Noni Madueke and Marc Guiu have been ruled out but are expected back after the March international break.

Back at Cobham after their trip to Denmark, some Chelsea stars took part in a light session in preparation for the visit of the Foxes to Stamford Bridge. With it being such a quick turnaround, changes could take place and another double injury return is therefore entirely possible.

With that being said, football.london has pulled together all the important things spotted from Friday's training session.

Lavia and Fofana hint

With the 15 players that played at least 45 minutes against Copenhagen not involved, it was a much smaller training session at Cobham on Friday.

Despite that, some senior players were still present including Romeo Lavia and Wesley Fofana with both having missed the last two months and the latter absent since early December. However, Maresca has admitted Fofana is more likely to feature.

"Wes is training with us already for more than ten days, so he is back," he said in a press conference. "Romeo has started to work with us. He’s still far from being 100%, but he’s started to work which us which is good.

Gusto blow

Though he only played 25 minutes, Malo Gusto was not clearly spotted in Chelsea training. As he hobbled off on Thursday evening, that is perhaps no surprise but Maresca's positive update suggested otherwise.

"He’s OK, he’s better. They just said to me he could possibly be available for Sunday’s game, so hopefully we will have him for [Leicester]," he admitted after the game. Nonetheless, precaution being taken is no surprise given the recent issues in defence.

Sancho joy

Not including Gusto, Jadon Sancho was the only player that featured in Europe to be involved yesterday. With the injuries in attack, Maresca needs the Manchester United loannee to step up as his last goal contribution arrived back in early January.

Pressure and scrutiny is certainly on the 24-year-old but he does not appear to be letting that bother him as he was all smiles in training. Sancho has been captured running and laughing with Lavia as the duo look to be chasing each other.
