37 goals in 39 games... Man Utd target wants summer move, Ineos must complete£54m swoop

Manchester United have several priority positions this summer which Ineos need to strengthen.

Ruben Amorim will have known when he took charge that the squad needed a lot of work done before becoming capable of pushing up the Premier League.

Manchester United above all need to sign a new starting striker, with Rasmus Hojlund’s two-season stretch inspiring no confidence.

There are six moves United appear likely to complete this summer, in which there are a handful of wonderkids such as Geovany Quenda and Chris Rigg.

However, there is also a world-class talent in Viktor Gyokeres, who would surely be Amorim’s first-choice addition to bolster the front line.

Now, the Swedish striker’s views on a possible move have been revealed.

Viktor Gyokeres wants to leave Sporting Lisbon

Since Amorim became the United head coach, several players from his incredible Sporting Lisbon side were linked with joining him.

United are very keen on signing Quenda, while other names like Goncalo Inacio and Francisco Trincao have also been linked. But the one Amorim will be most desperate to bring in is Gyokeres who would fix the issues caused by Hojlund up top.

Now, it is reported by Record in Portugal, that Gyokeres has already expressed a desire to leave Sporting in the summer.

United are among the suitors, but faces competition from Chelsea, Arsenal along with Barcelona, Bayern Munich and PSG.

Adding to this, Fabrizio Romano, explained Romano will leave Sporting for a fee of between £54m and £63m, as opposed to £83m Gyokeres release clause which had previously seemed like the demand.

All of Europe’s top sides are interested, as we know, but for United, it will depend on the budget and also securing European football.

This is different with Victor Osimhen who is keen even without European football, so United big have decisions to make.

Viktor Gyokeres would be a sure thing for Manchester United

If United are signing a big-money striker this summer, Ineos will want it to come with assurances of goals – considering the failure which Hojlund ultimately turned out to be.

With a £40m asking price set for Liam Delap, it would make so much more sense to sign the better and more proven Gyokeres for possibly just £14m more.

Gyokeres 39 37 9

Delap 29 10 2

Hojlund 36 7 1

United have struggled for goals all season long and clearly adding Gyokeres could potentially solve that, with an understanding of Amorim’s system making him an even better fit.

If Ineos want to show Amorim they are firmly behind him, adding Gyokeres would absolutely do that, a player the head coach loves and could be a brilliant mentor for Chido Obi to learn from.
