Everton are in the process of overhauling various departments behind the scenes and could be about to make another hire.
As confirmed on Friday (7 March), Angus Kinnear is to join from Leeds United as new CEO from this summer.
Colin Chong will move into a new role and Kevin Thelwell is to leave Goodison Park, where he has held the position as director of football, as is Richard Kenyon.
The changes are not complete there, however, as another staff member could be brought in from fellow Premier League side Chelsea.

Dan Ashworth has been regularly touted as an option to join Everton, while David Weir is another whose name seems to be bandied around often.

However, according to The Boot Room [8 March], Chelsea’s director of global football Sam Jewell is also under consideration.
The report describes Jewell as “one of the best in his role in England”, meaning it would be an ambitious swoop if Everton can pull it off.
Chelsea, for their part, are said to have no intention of letting Jewell leave, with European sides AC Milan and Atletico Madrid also said to hold an interest.

Who is Chelsea figure Sam Jewell?
Jewell has worked in various different positions for a number of clubs, including as opponent analyst for Newport County and head of scouting at Brighton.
As Chelsea have made a habit of doing in recent times, they plucked Jewell from Brighton in May 2024 and he is now overseeing global transfer matters.
Jewell also holds the same position with Chelsea’s sister club Strasbourg.

Given Chelsea regard Jewell highly, it will not be easy for Everton to bring him on board. Money speaks, though, and The Friedkin Group certainly have plenty of money.
While bringing in top-quality players gets Everton supporters excited, you need all the pieces in place before that can happen.
With Kinnear in and Jewell potentially alongside him, that looks like being a perfect combination going forward.
If this is indeed the hire the Friedkins want to make, they simply have to reach into their pockets and make it happen now.
