[Real Madrid](https://www.managingmadrid.com) manager Carlo Ancelotti spoke to the media ahead of his team’s match against Rayo Vallecano on Sunday. He spoke about Fede Valverde’s availability, and what position he likes and dislikes on the pitch. He said: “He is fine, available. He arrived just before Atleti, but he has improved and is in good condition. He can play, I know where he likes to play less, as a right winger. He likes to be a pivot or an inside midfielder and as a full-back too. In the future he will be one of the best, or he already is, he is the best midfielder in the world, the best full-back... But his future is going to be in the middle of the field.”
### Ancelotti on the game vs Rayo Vallecano
“Rayo are doing very well. They are well organised, intense, and they are going to challenge us in the match. We must continue to fight. Getting points is vital. We are doing well. We have had time to recover well since Tuesday, hopefully we will have a good match.”
### Ancelotti on being a ‘fly’
“I would like to have all the information, but I have a clear idea of what they think. It is part of my job to understand what they think. The personal relationship is very important, as well as the personal one.”
### Ancelotti on balance
“I don’t make a balance between each game, sometimes one player stands out more, sometimes another… I want to be focused on the team. Sometimes it affects someone individually, but for me it’s important that the whole team works well, in attack and defence. There is no envy in the team, if one player stands out more, the others are happy. That’s important.”
### Ancelotti on the loss vs Betis
“I was disappointed with the game. I thought the team was in good form, I didn’t expect that slump. But it was an isolated one. I don’t think players choose games. I think that in such a demanding season, the wear and tear is very high. Sometimes you can think that you’re not at 100% every game. The dynamic was good and we reacted well. We’re back on track.”
### Ancelotti on mentality
“We are ready to fight for every game, taking into account the wear and tear we have. I am more relaxed about tomorrow, we have had five days of rest. For Betis we had much less, on a physical and mental level it is more difficult. We have to take that into account. We are very close, the situation is not ideal, but we are very close to a Cup final, to the top of the League, to the [Champions League](https://www.sbnation.com/champions-league) quarter-finals... It is not ideal, that would be to be leaders in the League, but we are very close and ready to fight.”
### Ancelotti on Eduardo Camavinga’s fitness
“He hasn’t had any continuity, he has had major injuries. They have left him out for three and a half months, which makes it harder to get continuity. Now he is improving little by little, in the last few games he has had back pains that have prevented him from playing at 100%. He has held on because of the team’s needs, he will return to his best form.”
### Ancelotti on Kylian Mbappé
“He didn’t do what he did against City against Atleti. In general terms, he’s doing very well, we’re very happy with him. We have to take into account that he’s not always at his best. The season is demanding, it’s normal, especially for quality players, they have more ups and downs, it’s genetic. He’s doing very well. If we’re in the Champions League last 16, it’s a lot thanks to him, he scored four goals in the tie.”
### Ancelotti on Luka Modric
“He can perfectly play tomorrow and against Atleti. He has no problems with recovery, I am not surprised because I see what he does every day, how he acts, in training. He is an example that young players have to follow.”
### Ancelotti on Rodrygo
“He’s doing very well, he helps the team a lot. The team is more solid because the team is working hard at the top. That helps.”
### Ancelotti on Valverde’s role
“Someone misinterpreted that: either you run or you make the difference. If you don’t run or you make the difference, it’s wrong. There are players who do both. If you don’t run, then you have to make the difference. Valverde can do both.”
