The latest Bears Banter Podcast has dropped!
The Chicago Bears had a busy week just before free agency by trading for Kansas City Chiefs All-Pro guard Joe Thuney and also traded for one-time Pro Bowler Jonah Jackson from the LA Rams.
The Bears are working to upgrade their offensive line, so to break down what they’ve done and what else needs to be done, we had Fox’s Mark Schlereth on the show!
Mark, as a former guard himself, is great at breaking down offensive line play, and he discussed Dan Roushar as the team’s coach and how Ryan Poles has approached building this offensive line, we also discussed his thoughts on Drew Dalman if he lands on the Bears.
But Schlereth really opened my eyes when he talked about what Thuney and Jackson can bring to the table to the Bears.
“When you look at offensive linemen, most of them can play into their mid-30s, I think Thuney is still a guy playing at a high level like you talked about,” Schlereth stated. “I think he has a lot of years of good football left in him, two or three years easy of great football left. Jonah Jackson to me is interesting because I think that guy can be a dominant player, he was at times in Detroit. He’s had some tough times staying healthy. But he was one who I really liked when he was playing in Detroit.”
