The medical department is often busy at Wolves, with many players occupying the injury table for long periods.
Although Vitor Pereira had positive injury news to report on Friday, seeing Emmanuel Agbadou, Rodrigo Gomes and Goncalo Guedes all become available for the clash against Everton, the Portuguese tactician also has several long-term absentees.
In September, Wolves defender Yerson Mosquera suffered an MCL and ACL injury, ruling him out for the remainder of the 2024/25 campaign after a promising start.
Sasa Kalajdzic also suffered an ACL injury while on loan with Eintracht Frankfurt last year, and the forgotten striker is edging closer to a return, although Pereira did omit Kalajdzic from the Premier League squad.
Sadly, players at Wolves rupturing their ACLs is a common theme, and highly-rated midfielder Enso Gonzalez is another who has gone through the pain and suffering of being sidelined.

Enso Gonzalez ‘almost ready’ to return after 224 days
Wolves captured Gonzalez for £5 million from Libertad in the summer of 2023, although he struggled to make matchday squads under Gary O’Neil, only making one brief top-flight appearance.
He came off the bench in the dying embers of Wolves’ clash against Crystal Palace 301 days ago on May 11th 2024, and that was his last and only senior appearance for the club.
The 20-year-old then competed in the Olympics with Paraguay in the summer of 2024, though he saw his tournament cut short, as Gonzalez injured his ACL which required him to have surgery 224 days ago.

Since this huge setback in his early career, Gonzalez admitted it’s been ‘tough’ when speaking in July last year, and now he could be closing in on a return.
According to journalist Christian Martin, ‘Enzo looks good’ and is ‘almost ready’ to join the team, although he doesn’t want to jinx his hopes.

“Enso looks good. I don’t want to say anything out of place because the other time it happened and he got injured again,” he said.
“Let’s touch wood. When we see him in the Wolves shirt, we understand that he’s almost ready to join the team, to train alongside.”
Martin has also made an exciting prediction for Gonzalez, saying: “Running, changing fronts, protecting that knee to the max. We’re going to have Encito in his prime as Wolverhampton. And believe me and save this video. Encito is going to break it with Wolves.”
Gary O’Neil said Gonzalez wasn’t ready for the Premier League
It’s going to be a while before Wolves fans see Gonzalez in first-team action, and it may not be this season. He’s still got to get up to speed in training and reach full sharpness.
Even then, O’Neil once admitted that Gonzalez wasn’t ready for the Premier League and needed a lot of work to become an important squad player.
Speaking in October 2023, O’Neil said: “He still needs a lot of work, as expected,” said O’Neil. “People might read that and think it is a negative, but it isn’t, it’s just where he is and to be expected.
“He is a young lad and the Premier League is a top level. So he needs a lot of work and we’re trying to get it into him as quickly as we can.
“He’s enjoying being around and I’m sure he will have an impact.”
Realistically, a loan spell for the 2005-born star is the best option in the summer, so he can play regular football and grow into his potential.
