Man Utd can now sign 25yo Brazilian star for £42m, he would thrive under Amorim - view

Manchester United should consider a move for one of Atalanta’s best players this summer.

The Red Devils are expected to bolster their squad at the end of the campaign, and a versatile midfielder could be one of the priorities for manager Ruben Amorim.

Christian Eriksen is poised to walk away when his contract expires on June 30, while Casemiro could also be offloaded amid his reduced playing time this season.

United will want to replace the duo with a young and experienced midfielder, and we won’t be surprised if they return for Ederson, who was on their radar last summer.

A recent report revealed that the Red Devils are ‘ready to play their cards‘ to sign the Brazilian, and journalist Filippo Maggi has now disclosed a likely price tag.

Maggi, who is ‘very close’ to the Atalanta environment, has said that the midfielder is ‘very popular’ and it will take between £42 million to £46 million to prise him away.

Ederson would be an outstanding signing for United

The Red Devils are preparing for a busy transfer window this summer. Eriksen and Casemiro are likely to leave and they could be followed by Kobbie Mainoo.

The club graduate is set to snub the latest contract offer on the table. He is prepared to pursue a new challenge abroad, and United could hold out for as much as £70m.

Ederson would be a fabulous acquisition in the heart of the midfield. The former Salernitana star has a tireless work rate, and has also excelled with his high pressing.

He has a passing accuracy of 88 percent in Serie A this term with 5.3 recoveries and 4.9 duels per outing.

Ederson has similar traits as Manuel Ugarte but he can operate in the number six and number eight roles. The Brazilian would thrive in the 3-4-2-1 formation under Amorim.

At £42m, United could be tempted to revive their long-term interest. Juventus are also keen but Atalanta could prefer to do business with a foreign club over a direct league rival.

The Bergamo outfit could be willing to negotiate with United. There is a strong working relationship with the Red Devils having signed Rasmus Hojlund and Amad from them.
