Chelsea are still interested to sign one Manchester United star. However, it is still not certain wheter they will make a move for him this summer.
The star in question here is Kobbie Mainoo of Man United. There were reports linking Mainoo with Chelsea in January. Along with him, the Blues were also linked with Alejandro Garnacho. But, none of the deals progressed and both players had to stay at Manchester.
Both Mainoo and Garnacho have came up through Man United academy. They are both regular players but the Red Devils may need to sell them due to PSR. Hence, there is a high chance of both being made available once again this summer.
Ruben Amorim is keen to keep Mainoo at the club. He thinks that the midfielder can play a big role for Red Devils. But, the 19 year old can still leave due to his contract situation. He will enter the final two years of his contract this summer.
Garnacho wants a higher wage in his new contract. He currently earns £20,000 per week. But, GiveMeSport have reported that he wants around £150,000 per week due to his importance to Man United along with being regular for England national team.
In addition, there will be £30,000 more added if United play in UCL in future. This demands may make it hard for United to tie Mainoo to new deal. Hence, the player can end up leaving this summer despite his priority being to stay.
Can Chelsea land Kobbie Mainoo this summer?
Chelsea are still interested to sign Kobbie Mainoo. But, they may not go after him this summer due to his transfer fee. United want £70 million to sell him and the Blues are not prepared to spend that much on the 19 year old.

Hence, there is a high chance of Chelsea opting to drop their interest in Mainoo. The 19 year old will surely have interest from other clubs. But, it is very likely that he stays at Manchester due to his desire and manager’s faith in him.
