Arsenal are reportedly targeting 21-year-old Brazilian right-back Wesley Franca as they look to strengthen their defensive options in the summer transfer window.
According toRTI Esporte, the Flamengo defender has emerged as a key target for the Gunners, who are actively searching for reinforcements at right-back. Flamengo are reportedly demanding around €35 million for the highly-rated youngster.
Wesley Franca has quickly built a reputation as one of Brazil’s most promising young defenders. Born in Acailândia, the right-back began his youth career at Atlético Tubarão before moving to Flamengo, where he progressed through the ranks.

Having broken into Flamengo’s first team in late 2021, Wesley had to wait until the 2023 season to cement his place as a regular starter. Since then, he has made over 100 appearances for the club, contributing two goals and four assists from the defensive flank.

Arsenal’s interest in Wesley makes sense given their current right-back situation. While Ben White and Jurrien Timber have featured in the role, both are naturally centre-backs, with Timber also playing at left-back this season. The Gunners are looking for a more natural option on the right, and Wesley fits the profile.
Reports suggest that Arsenal have already made initial contact regarding a potential summer move. While €35 million is the reported price tag, it remains to be seen whether the Gunners are willing to meet Flamengo’s valuation.
Given Wesley’s age and potential, Arsenal could view the fee as a reasonable investment for the future. With competition heating up for the Brazilian’s signature, the North London club may need to move quickly to secure their target.
