Liverpool prepare £40million bid for scintillating PL defender

Liverpool set to bid £40million for the exciting Cherries defender in the summer

Liverpool are looking to add Milos Kerkez to their defensive setup in the summer transfer window. The 21-year-old has been one of the best players in the Premier League this season and the Reds are aiming to sign the left-back from Bournemouth to strengthen their squad.

Kerkez has been nothing but brilliant for the Cherries since joining the club in 2023. As per Sofascore, the Hungary international has played 27 games in the Premier League for Andoni Iraola’s side, scoring two goals and providing four assists during that time. Kerkez has also been one of the many reasons why Bournemouth are in the top half of the Premier League table and aiming for the Champions League.

Liverpool targeting Milos Kerkez in the summer

The left-back was signed from AZ Alkmaar in the summer of 2023 for just £15.5million and many Cherries fans will say that he has been worth every penny. With Andy Robertson in the twilight of his career and Konstantinos Tsimikas just not being able to make an impact, Arne Slot believes Kerkez will be the answer to his left-back problems.

The Bournemouth website has also described the Hungary international as “one of the most exciting young talents in football” and will have tied the defender down to a contract that runs until 2028.

Liverpool amongst many suitors for Kerkez

Milos Kerkez was signed by Liverpool sporting director Richard Hughes, back when Hughes was Bournemouth’s technical director. That relationship with the player will certainly help the Reds in their efforts to sign the left-back in the summer.

GIVEMESPORT confirms that Kerkez is looking to play Champions League football on a regular basis. This comes after it was confirmed that the Cherries will look for a fee in excess of £40million, to consider selling the exciting left-back.

GIVEMESPORT also confirms that Bournemouth have no intention of selling te defender unless something drastically changes. They will not be easy to negotiate with and Liverpool will have to pull out all stops if they want to get the deal over the line in the summer.

Liverpool boss Arne Slot will hope to get the deal done as soon as possible

It is also confirmed by GMS that Chelsea also have their eyes set on the Hungarian. The Blues already have enough squad depth for every position but a deal to sign Kerkez for £40million is too good to turn down.

Real Madrid are also said to be in the market for a left back to provide competition for Ferland Mendy. The Spanish clubs are just keeping tabs on the Cherries defender but are not expected to make a move for him in the summer.
