PSG star Khvicha Kvaratskhelia sends clear message to Liverpool with bold prediction

Paris Saint-Germain playmaker Khvicha Kvaratskhelia wants to hand another dose of disappointment to Liverpool in the second leg of their Champions League last-16 clash next week.

The Georgian midfielder turned his back on the chance to join the Reds in the summer - and six months later opted to swap Napoli for the French capital.

Kvaratskhelia was outstanding when PSG met Arne Slot's men in Paris last week - but ran into Liverpool's outstanding keeper Allison, who made a host of top saves.

Liverpool then snatched a priceless 1-0 win through Harvey Elliott's late goal and are now favourites to go through to the last 16 despite being dominated by their Premier League opponents.

But Kvaratskhelia insists the Parisians will go to Anfield for the second leg on Tuesday full of optimism. He said: "We had so many opportunities to score in the first game and were the better team.

"It was disappointing to lose but we have to prepare ourselves properly for the second game. Liverpool are a good team and Anfield is a good ground for them. But we can take a lot of confidence from the way we played and if we are the same in the second game then I think we will score the goals we need."

Kvaratskhelia has caught the eye for PSG since joining them from Naples in January. So far, he's scored twice and assisted three in 11 matches.

Kvaratskhelia - who turned down Liverpool this summer - was denied by a succession of Alisson saves on Wednesday night

His manager Luis Enrique agreed with the idea that PSG can be confident heading into the game at Anfield, insisting that his side will set up the exact same way after having so much joy on the ball.

He said after the game: "We have nothing to lose if we manage to repeat the same way we played today. It will be very aggressive in terms of the atmosphere in their stadium. However, we are just a team that has got nothing to lose. We will go to Liverpool and play exactly as we did today.

"Today it wasn’t about details, Alisson had an amazing game. They only play like that against us because we didn’t let them play.

"In the first five minutes they played better than us, but only for that. Then it was all about PSG. Nobody saw anything else tonight. One team was above the other, we all saw that. Is the result fair? No, the result is not fair."
