Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth reported that the new chief of staff of the Israeli occupation army, Major General Eyal Zamir, decided on Friday not to promote the spokesperson of the Israeli army, Brigadier General Daniel Hagari, to the rank of major general, and to dismiss him from his position.

According to a statement by the Israeli army, the two “agreed on Hagari’s departure.” Zamir expressed: “Great appreciation for Hagari’s years of significant combat service for Israel.”

The statement also noted that Hagari had carried out his role: “Professionally and with dedication during one of the most complex wars in Israel’s history.”

Hagari is a former commander of the Israeli Navy’s elite Shayetet 13 unit and was frequently the public face of the war while political leaders remained silent, even during difficult events.

Between 7 October, 2023, and 19 January, 2025, with US and European support, the occupation forces committed genocide in Gaza, killing and wounding around 160,300 Palestinians, most of them women and children, while more than 14,000 are still believed to be missing.
