Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy was reportedly arrested Friday Night on “criminal charges of assault against a family or household member by impeding their breathing or circulation. Will Kunkel ofFox 26 Houston was the first to report on the arrest.
As of this posting, Worthy has not been tried for the alleged crime and is considered innocent until proven guilty in a court of law. It is also too early to speculate on any potential legal proceedings or punishment from the NFL.

REPORT: Chiefs Wide Receiver Xavier Worthy Arrested On Assault Charges
Xavier Worthy is the second Chiefs wide receiver in as many seasons to be arrested in the offseason. After rostering Tyreek Hill for years on end, Kansas City’s 2023 second-round pick, Rashee Rice, drew the wrong type of headlines after allegedly playing a key role in a six-car crash and leaving the scene of the crime last offseason. The wide receiver did not face a sentence and the NFL did not issue a suspension, but that could change in the coming months.
Worthy originally entered the league as a first-round pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Selected by the Kansas City Chiefs, the Texas product immediately became a key part of the passing offense. Appearing in all 17 games while making 13 starts, the rookie finished his inaugural season with 59 receptions for 638 yards and six touchdowns on 98 targets. He added another 104 rushing yards and three touchdowns on the ground as he and superstar quarterback Patrick Mahomes developed their rapport throughout the season.
Worthy was projected to play a large role in Kansas City’s offense next year. While Rice will return following his season-ending injury, the team could lose free agent wide receivers DeAndre Hopkins and Marquise Brown. With Travis Kelce getting older, Worthy had the opportunity to become a top-two target in one of the league’s top passing attacks. Only time will tell if this arrest will impact Xavier Worthy from a football standpoint.
