Local authorities in Kuwait briefly closed the country's main airport on Saturday, halting all departing flights and redirecting incoming flights to nearby airports before resuming operations, according to media reports.
The closure of Kuwait Airport led to the brief suspension of all flight departures, with arriving flights being diverted to neighboring airports in the region, the local daily Al-Rai reported.
Images from Flightradar24, a real-time flight tracking website, show a plane altering its route before landing at Kuwait Airport, with skies cleared of any planes during the disruption.
Separately, the Kuwaiti official news agency KUNA reported that operations and flights had resumed in Kuwait International Airport.
“The airport was temporarily shut down early today due to emergency repairs on a tarmac,” KUNA quoted Abdullah Alrajhi, the acting deputy director of the Directorate General of Civil Aviation, as saying.
“The airport is currently operating normally,” the official added.
