Xavier Worthy arrested on assault charge

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy was arrested on Friday, according to judicial records in Williamson County, Texas.

Per the website, the 21-year-old was booked by the Williamson County Sheriff’s Office on a charge of Assault on a Family/Household Member by Impeding Breath/Circulation.

At the time of this writing, that is all the known information.

Kansas City traded up in the first round of last year’s NFL Draft to select Worthy with the No. 28 overall pick — and he went on to have an excellent rookie season and was the leading receiver in Super Bowl LIX. The club recently announced that Worthy won the Mack Lee Hill Award for top rookie.

When reached for comment, a team spokesperson told Arrowhead Pride, “We are aware and gathering information.”

The Chiefs had already been bracing for a 2025 suspension of its top receiver, Rashee Rice, stemming from an off-the-field incident that occurred during last year’s offseason.

We will update this post as more information becomes available.
