Liverpool are reportedly considering a summer move for RB Leipzig star and Arsenal target Benjamin Sesko to bolster their striker's department, according to Rousing the Kop.
The Reds are in scintillating form this term, having extended their lead atop the Premier League table by 13 points and have already booked a place in the EFL Cup final. Their prospects of lifting major silverware at the end of this season are increasingly likely, and the Liverpool top brass will be hoping to prolong such results beyond this season.
They closed the winter transfer window without a single signing, and only added Federico Chiesa to their squad last summer. However, Giorgi Mamardashvili is finally set to join the squad this summer, and boss Arne Slot will be hoping to bring in a few more faces alongside the Georgian shot-stopper.
Liverpool Chasing Move for Leipzig Talisman Sesko
Arsenal have been long-time admirers of the forward
As per the report from Rousing the Kop, Liverpool are "in contact" over a summer transfer for Sesko, who has a £50 million release clause. It is thought that an "internal agreement" is in place between the player and his club for a departure, meaning interested suitors may not necessarily need to meet the clause to strike a deal.
Arsenal were previously considered among the front-runners in the race to land Sesko, and could be the toughest competition to Liverpool's pursuit. However, the Reds may have an "edge" over the Gunners, thanks to the influence of Jurgen Klopp as Head of Global Soccer at Red Bull. GIVEMESPORT sources have revealed that the former manager could help tilt the 21-year-old's head in favour of a move to Anfield.
Praised as "generational", Sesko is among the best young players in world football, and has tallied 17 goals this term across all competitions. He is also a regular for the Slovenian national team, having amassed 16 goals in 39 caps.

Meanwhile, Liverpool front-man Darwin Nunez is expected to head to the club's egress this summer after a misfiring campaign that has seen him net just six in 37 outings. With just seven league starts, Slot has been reluctant to start the Uruguayan, and he is eager to land a replacement.
According to Rousing the Kop, Liverpool have also identified the likes of Mateo Retegui, Conrad Harder and Samu Aghehowa as alternatives, in case their pursuit of Sesko falls through.
