Raul Jimenez is doing something for Fulham that Vitor Pereira needs one of his Wolves players…

Matheus Cunha may be a world-class forward, but the Brazilian is the only top-quality attacking option Vitor Pereira has.

The Old Gold aren’t blessed when it comes to quality in depth, and the reliance on Cunha proves it.

After being shown a straight red card against Bournemouth in the FA Cup last weekend, Cunha will miss Wolves’ next three matches, including Saturday’s game against Everton.

The pressure will be on Jorgen Strand Larsen to perform, but the Norwegian is enduring a torrid run of form.

Unfortunately, the same cannot be said for one of the Old Gold’s former players — Wolves’ Premier League record goalscorer, Raul Jimenez.

Raul Jimenez crucial for Fulham

Despite being one of Wolves’ most well-loved players, Jimenez’s failure to recapture his best form following a near-fatal head injury led to him joining Fulham in 2023 for just over £5 million.

The Mexican moved to Craven Cottage with a point to prove, and, although he’s taken some time to get up to speed, is turning out to be a good signing for Marco Silva.

MORE WOLVES STORIES

Jimenez opened the scoring against Brighton on Saturday. His 35-minute effort was his 10th of the season, and more impressively, is the latest in a long line of crucial goals.

All 10 of Raúl Jiménez’s Premier League goals this season have either put Fulham ahead (7) or drawn them level (3) in the match.

All of the 33-year-old’s goals, so far, this season have directly led to Fulham picking up points — either one or all three.

The same can’t be said for Jorgen Strand Larsen at Wolves

Strand Larsen is expected to start for Wolves against Everton. The forward will be tasked with leading the line in Cunha’s absence but expectations aren’t high.

The 25-year-old has failed to find the back of the net this year, which has continually put even more pressure on Cunha to produce the goods.

Unfortunately, with the Brazilian sidelined for Saturday’s game at home at David Moyes’ in-form Toffees, Pereira has no choice but to rely on Strand Larsen.

The Portuguese boss will probably be secretly wishing Wolves still had Jimenez to rely on though.
