Report: Man Utd can replace Andre Onana with'Premier League standard'youngster, labelled his club's'best ever'

Manchester United are eyeing up numerous potential goalkeeping additions amid recent horrific Andre Onana performances.

After a slow first season at Old Trafford, many assumed that he would kick on but this failed to transpire.

This season has seen Andre Onana making repeated errors in goal, which will likely have seen any trust Ruben Amorim had dissolve.

Due to this, United in Focus understands Amorim would like to replace Onana this summer, yet the budget available could mean it’s unfeasible due to other positions taking precedence.

During a recent performance against Ipswich Town, Onana was described as being a ‘calamity’ as he had a howler of a game which saw Manchester United lucky to avoid a defeat.

Now, replacement options are beginning to pile up.

Manchester United still tipped to be keen on Sam Tickle

In the aftermath of Onana’s errors against Ipswich, United were linked with Espanyol’s Joan Garcia, with the club clearly evaluating options in the event a switch can be made this year.

James Trafford is another name to United has been linked with, however, there could be a budget option on the cards as well.

This is what Wigan goalkeeper Sam Tickle would represent for United, and the Daily Mail have suggested that he remains a long-term target.

United are listed alongside Arsenal and Everton as potential destinations for the 22-year-old.

He is a standout at Wigan, with sources at the club claiming he is the ‘best academy graduate the club have ever produced’, while his shot-stopping ability is already seen as being ‘Premier League standard’.

Tickle has been a long-term target for United and recently admitted he is a fan of the club, which would make a move even sweeter.

United will remember Tickle from his FA Cup heroics last season in which he was man of the match with 12 saves.

Sam Tickle having a great season for Wigan Athletic

The impressive performance against United was not a one-off for Tickle as he has been shining all campaign for the Latics.

Former Wigan boss, Shaun Maloney, labelled Tickle as being the English Football League’s best keeper, with highlight reels of his shot-stopping similarly impressive to David de Gea’s.

Tickle is arguably League One’s very best goalkeeper and while it would be an underwhelming replacement for Onana, he does appear to be a better shot-stopper, but there would be huge risk.

As an Altay Bayindir replacement, his arrival is more feasible and we would be for it, although Elyh Harrison is probably on his way to being at a similar level.
