Star NFL wide receiver arrested for assault charge

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy was arrested on Friday night in Williamson County, Texas, according to Wil Kunkel of Fox 26 in Houston.

The charge listed is for assault against a family or household member by impeding their breathing or circulation. No other details were immediately available on the incident.

For the Chiefs, this is the latest wide receiver to get into trouble over the last year. Star wide receiver Rashee Rice was arrested in April of 2024 on one count of aggravated assault, one count of collision involving serious bodily injuries, and six counts of collision involving injuries for a hit-and-run crash in March of 2024.

Kansas City selected Worhty in the first round of the 2024 NFL Draft. He broke out as a rookie, becoming a critical part of the team’s offense. In his rookie season, Worthy had 638 receiving yards and six touchdowns on 59 receptions. His best performance was in the Super Bowl, where he put up over 100 yards and two touchdowns in a losing effort.
