Speedy ex-Pittsburgh Steelers running back signs with Ufl team

Former Pittsburgh Steelers running back Anthony McFarland is heading to the United Football League once again. McFarland has signed on with the San Antonio Brahmas for a second straight season, the team announced.

McFarland tried to get back into the NFL. He had a workout in January with the Washington Commanders, but they did not sign him. As a result, he is now back in the UFL for another season to try and get his way back into the NFL.

In his first season in the UFL, McFarland put up 190 rushing yards and 206 receiving yards. He was an explosive play magnet when he played, scoring four touchdowns, with three of those coming through the air.

On top of that, McFarland also worked as the Brahmas kick returner. With an impressive season, McFarland should be able to squeeze his way back into the NFL.

McFarland spent nearly his entire rookie contract with the Steelers on their active roster and experimenting on the team’s practice squad. The team’s fourth-round pick in the 2020 NFL Draft out of Maryland, several injuries derailed McFarland’s momentum while he was with the team. Over multiple years, McFarland would start gaining experience and heating up but could never stay healthy.
