The Lilywhites have adapted to a transfer policy of bringing in young players who have beaming potential, and Daniel Levy has done brilliantly to recognise such talents and try to aid their development through the corridors of Hotspur Way, and we saw multiple young talents like Archie Gray, Lucas Bergvall, and Wilson Odobert moving to N17 in the previous summer and taking strides under Ange Postecoglou’s tutelage, and going into the new summer window, the club chairman wants to add Tyler Dibling to the roster.
Dibling is special
Tyler Dibling has shown glimpses of greatness.
Dibling is one of those players who is only a teenager but has been a nightmare to contain for the fullbacks this season. He is slick with getting out of tight spaces and dribbling his way out of trouble, especially when he is doing that from an outside path to inside zones. The 19-year-old has that ability to cut inside and recognise space. And then you add how he feints away from his marker; given how he possesses an equally strong weak foot, it makes it more difficult to contain his presence.
And we need to keep our eyes on the fact that he is still young, and there is so much that he can still develop, but this season we have seen glimpses, glimpses of the player he can go on to become.
Dibling thrives in breaking down low-block defences, and it will bring some much-needed tactical flexibility in the current roster given how the teenager has different dynamics from Brennan Johnson, who excels in counter-attacking situations. And then you put in the fact that he will be counted in the homegrown quota, which should help the Lilywhites with their squad balance for a long time to come.
But should Tottenham buy Dibling for a £30-35m fee?
Will Levy spend hefty fees for Dibling?
Then comes the question of pricing…
We are operating in an inflated market where prices of the players are always breaking unheard ceilings, but then if the North Londoners are able to land someone of Dibling’s ability for a £30-35m fee, it would be nothing short of a bargain. He fits seamlessly into everything that Tottenham are building, given he is young, possesses high potential, and can bring a lot of tactical variability and potential into the roster.
The Lilywhites supporters have seen them struggle massively this season to find solutions in stale situations, and given how the Australian head coach likes to put in balls from the flanks, and especially if Southampton is relegated, Dibling could end up proving to be an astute investment at N17.
It is not just Tottenham
The latest report indicate that there is a deal to be done and the North Londoners have contacted the player’s camp about a possible move to Tottenham Hotspur Stadium when the summer transfer window comes around. But it is to be remembered that Spurs aren’t alone in pursuit of his signatures with the likes of Newcastle, Aston Villa, and Bayern Munich also interested in his services.

For the Lilywhites, Ange Postecoglou (or whoever is the head coach at N17 post this season) would love to have a player of his capacity in the roster but Levy will have to start laying early grounds to ensure that Tottenham are perfectly placed to complete a deal (and beat other suitors) when the summer window comes around.
