Chiefs Spark Strong Reaction With Unfortunate Scheduled Message

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy put the finishing touches on a solid rookie season by helping his team to a Super Bowl appearance.

Unfortunately, just a few weeks later, Worthy's name was in the headlines for all the wrong reasons. According to multiple reports, police arrested the former Texas Longhorns wide receiver in Williamson County, Texas on a charge of assault of a family or house member and impeding the breathing or circulation.

The Williamson Sheriff's Office booked the 21-year-old into jail on Friday night and online records did not reveal details of the arrest or list an attorney for the talented wide receiver who had not posted bond as of Saturday morning.

Shortly after news of Worthy's arrest broke, the Chiefs issued a scheduled post that reflected poorly on the team - highlighting International Women's Day just hours after Worthy's arrest.

"Every dream takes a team. This International Women's Day, hear how Tiffany's mom helped her become the woman she is today in the latest Heart of the Kingdom episode," the Chiefs said in the post.

Fans were not pleased with the post.

"What a worthy acknowledgement," panned one fan.

"Why team accounts should never schedule tweets," suggested another.

"Ayo poor timing, admin," added a third.

The Chiefs reportedly announced they're aware of the incident and looking to gather more information regarding Worthy's arrest. The wide receiver faces up to 2-10 years in prison and a $10,000 find if found guilty of impeding a family member's breathing or circulation.

Kansas City traded up in the 2024 NFL draft with the Buffalo Bills in order to select the former Longhorns star. He caught 59 passes for 638 yards and scored nine touchdowns as a rookie.
