Geno Smith Makes Statement Following Raiders Trade

After months of speculation about who would be the Las Vegas Raiders' quarterback in 2025, the team finally got their answer. They traded a third-round pick to the Seattle Seahawks in order to add Geno Smith.

He may not have been the biggest splash they could make but Smith has played very well since taking over as the starter in Seattle. Over the last three years, he has a 27-22 record and has thrown for 71 touchdowns. That's a big upgrade over what the Raiders have gotten from the quarterback position the last three years.

For his part, Smith doesn't seem upset about the trade.

"God is the GREATEST!!" Smith wrote on X. "Excited to get to work and WIN. ... The time is NOW."

Smith is very close with Raiders head coach Pete Carroll so it's easy to see why he's excited about the move. The biggest question is whether or not the team is going to be willing to give him the contract he wants.

The Seahawks apparently weren't willing to pay him the $40+ million a year he desired but it remains to be seen if the Raiders plan to or if they simply see Smith as a high-end stopgap option.
