Liverpool came from behind to beat Southampton and move 16 points clear in the Premier League on Saturday.
The Reds were heavy favourites to dish out a drubbing to bottom side Southampton on a sunny afternoon at Anfield.
However, Liverpool were slow out of the blocks in front of their own supporters and were deservedly behind by the half-time whistle.
The goal which put Saints ahead was a comedy of errors, with Virgil van Dijk perhaps the biggest culprit. The Reds captain should have simply cleared the ball into touch but tried to shepherd it back to Alisson Becker.
Watching on from his position in the Anfield stands, Arne Slot would have been furious at what he was seeing from his team.
Slot made three changes at half-time and with their boss’ words ringing in their ears, Liverpool were much better in the second-half. After winning the game with two penalties for the Reds, Mohamed Salah lifted the lid on what went on in the Liverpool changing room.

Arne Slot loses his head at Liverpool showing
Liverpool were about as bad as they could possibly have been during a dismal opening 45 minutes against Southampton.
The play was slow, sloppy and lethargic, while at the back they looked unsettled by Tyler Dibling and Kamaldeen Sulemana in particular.

The difference in the second half was night and day. Virtually immediately Liverpool were putting more pressure on Southampton. Within 10 minutes of the restart they were in front.
Salah was the man who got that go-ahead goal and the Egyptian was asked by BBC Sport to explain what Slot had said to his players at the break.

“It was a bit of frustration,” Salah answered. “His head was going for us.
“We were sloppy and slow in the first half. I don’t think we played good today. If you want to win the Champions League or Premier League you have to win these games like that.”
Salah equals another Premier League record
As he so often has been – especially this season – Salah was ultimately the difference for Liverpool on Saturday.
Both of his goals may have come from the penalty spot, but they were each taken so emphatically.

And after adding two more to make his Premier League tally 27 for the season, Squawka revealed that Salah had now equalled the record for goal contributions in a 38-game campaign.
The 32-year-old equalled Thierry Henry and Erling Haaland’s hauls of 44 from 2003/04 and 2022/23 respectively.
With nine games left to break it, it is now inevitable that Salah will be out on his own come May.
