Manchester United predicted XI vs Arsenal, Ruben Amorim gives one debut as Chido Obi decision made - Opinion

Manchester United face Arsenal on Sunday afternoon, with Ruben Amorim just wanting his team to survive physically.

Despite only arriving at Carrington in November, already this will be the third time Ruben Amorim and Mikel Arteta face off.

Arsenal won the first meeting back in December, while Manchester United won the second with the FA Cup penalties triumph in January.

However, this is the first meeting at Old Trafford and it sees Arsenal visit a United side still in an injury crisis. Amorim will be without everyone who missed the Europa League clash with Real Sociedad.

Amorim did confirm Chido Obi would return after he was ineligible for the trip to Spain.

Obi could face his former club Arsenal if he gets minutes, with Amorim having a big decision to make after how impressive the 17-year-old was last weekend against Fulham.

How Manchester United could line-up against Arsenal

Manchester United currently sit 14th in the league after a terrible campaign to date. However, a win against Arsenal would do wonders for the season, moving the club closer to the top 10 which seems the best-case finish.

More United News

Due to a small squad, the biggest decision Amorim has to make is whether he gives Obi a start after he outperformed Rasmus Hojlund last weekend.

So here is our predicted line-up for United to take on Arsenal.

Andre Onana

Starting in goal, there is little option for Amorim but to start Onana with Altay Bayindir still out with an injury.

Leny Yoro

In the right-sided centre-back position, Yoro is becoming undroppable. Amorim has tipped Yoro to be a ‘top player’ and he’s well on his way.

Matthijs de Ligt

In the middle of the back three, De Ligt is arguably the first name on the team sheet. De Ligt was phenomenal against Sociedad and we will need him on top form here.

Noussair Mazraoui

Completing the back three, Mazraoui has transformed himself to be a central defender, with his full-back qualities not fitting as a wing-back. Starts on the left after an impressive mid-week.

Diogo Dalot

Dalot is on thin ice for United but likely start with no real options otherwise. Dalot left his teammates fuming on Thursday and needs to improve.

Toby Collyer

With Manuel Ugarte still out injured, we would much rather see Collyer than £60m Casemiro. He looked sharp on his return from injury midweek.

Bruno Fernandes

In midfield, Fernandes should partner Collyer as the club captain has evolved into a very strong number eight for Amorim’s system. A definite starter.

Harry Amass

It may be a bold choice, but with Patrick Dorgu suspended and using Dalot in this position counter-productive, Amorim should hand Amass his debut. He deserves the chance, and this allows the strongest back three to remain together. United are so much better with a natural left-sided player on the left instead of Dalot.

Alejandro Garnacho

Garnacho got his seventh assist of the season on Thursday and by default starts here against Arsenal.

Joshua Zirkzee

Zirkzee is becoming one of United’s most important players and he’s sure to start this one against Arsenal.

Rasmus Hojlund

Finally, starting up front we would like to see Obi start and he will likely make a substantial cameo. But Hojlund deserves to start after a better display on Thursday in which he was unfortunately ignored.
