Chiefs wideout and former Central High star Xavier Worthy arrested on suspicion of assault

Former Central High star and current Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy was arrested Friday and booked into Williamson County jail on suspicion of assaulting family/house members impeding breathing/circulation.

The arrest took place in Georgetown, Texas in Williamson County, just north of Austin where Worthy previously played for the University of Texas.

What led up to the incident is unknown. As of Saturday morning, he was still booked in jail.

The Kansas City Chiefs are looking into the matter, according to reports.

According to Texas Law, impede breathing is an “offense committed by intentionally, knowingly, or recklessly impeding the normal breathing or circulation of the blood of the person by applying pressure to the person’s throat or neck or by blocking the person’s nose or mouth.”

The offense is a third-degree felony and Worthy is facing two to 10 years in prison and a $10,000 fine.

Worthy was selected in the first round of the 2024 NFL draft by the Kansas City Chiefs. He finished the season with 638 receiving yards and six touchdowns and three rushing touchdowns. He also had two touchdowns in a loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in the Super Bowl.

Worthy helped Central to a state championship in 2019.
