Less than one month removed from the Kansas City Chiefs' loss to the Philadelphia Eagles in Super Bowl LIX, the Chiefs have received some disappointing news about their young wide receiver, Xavier Worthy.
On Friday night, Worthy was "arrested in Williamson County, Texas, on a charge of assault of a family or house member and impeding the breathing or circulation," per ESPN's Adam Teicher. This came in the area of Austin, Texas, where Worthy played football for the Texas Longhorns.
The Chiefs have been made aware of Worthy's arrest, but no more details have been revealed on the online records, per ESPN. The NFL also quickly released a statement on the arrest.
With concerns of their rookie wideout arising, on Saturday, the Chiefs elected to re-sign wide receiver Marquise "Hollywood" Brown to a one-year deal worth up to $11 million, according to NFL Network's Tom Pelissero.
"The Chiefs are re-signing WR Hollywood Brown to a one-year deal worth up to $11 million, sources tell me and @RapSheet," Pelissero wrote on X. "Still only 27, Brown missed most of last season with a freak injury, but played well after returning for the stretch run. Speed staying in Kansas City."

After spending his first five seasons with the Baltimore Ravens and the Arizona Cardinals, Brown signed a very similar deal with the Chiefs in 2024 for one year, $11 million. In his first preseason game with Kansas City, Brown suffered a clavicle injury and didn't return until Week 16 against the Houston Texans.
Although Brown has the potential to reach 1,000 receiving yards (1,008 in 20221), his injury certainly did not help his production with Kansas City. In two regular season games, he recorded nine catches for 91 yards. In the playoffs, he tallied five catches for 50 yards.
