David Moyes has named his Everton starting lineup for their away clash with Wolves.

Everton will be looking to extend their unbeaten run to five games, off the back of their 1-1 draw with Brentford last time out.

Having once looked to be threatened by the prospect of relegation, Moyes has completely changed their fortunes around and it bodes well for the future on Merseyside.

However, before any considerations are made in that regard, the focus will be on having a strong finish to the current campaign, starting with what has the potential to be a difficult clash away to Wolves.

Moyes names Everton XI v Wolves

Everton are the perceived underdogs for their clash with Wolves, though that is unlikely to phase them, given the form they have showcased over the past few weeks.

With that in mind, Moyes has made just one change to his starting 11, and it could very well be a poor decision come the end of the game.

Carlos Alcaraz has again been dropped from the starting 11 in favour of a return for Abdoulaye Doucoure, and it seems like a ludicrous decision.

The Argentina midfielder has showcased his quality since arriving on Merseyside, but the way he has been in and out of the team has been quite strange.

Everton’s season so far

Alcaraz was a surprise omission from the squad when they faced Man United, though he was reinstated to the team for their draw with the Bees.

Moyes’ decision to drop him yet again will do nothing but prevent him from maintaining momentum as we approach the latter stages of the season.

Dwight McNeil, Dominic Calvert-Lewin and Iliman Ndiaye all remain sidelined for the Toffees, leaving Moyes with very few attacking options.

Everton must end the season strongly

With minimal fears of relegation and next to no chance of European qualification, the pressure is off Everton for the remainder of the season, though they mustn’t allow that to force their guards down.

After what was a wretched start to the campaign, they simply need to finish it full of confidence that they can then take into the new one at Bramley-Moore Dock.

Momentum is often talked about in football, but many underestimate the impact it can have between seasons, and if Moyes‘ side can carry that through to the summer, it will set up a very exciting period on Merseyside.
