Liverpool are ready to battle it with Spanish giants Barcelona and Real Madrid for Georgian teenage sensation Saba Kharebashvili.
According to Football Insider, Saba Kharebashvili has garnered massive interest from some top clubs, with Liverpool now in the mix alongside Barcelona and Real Madrid. The 16-year-old Eastern European wonderkid is seen as one for the future by either of those teams as the Reds in particular are keen to develop a top level talent like the Georgian.
Georgian football has been on the rise, as the Eastern European nation has produced some top-level talents in recent years. Khvicha Kvaratskhelia remains the flag bearer for Georgian football, while other notable names include incoming Liverpool keeper Giorgi Mamardashvili and Lyon attacker Georges Mikautadze.
There is another one in the pipeline as full-back prospect Saba Kharebashvili is emerging through the ranks at Georgian side Dinamo Tbilisi. The 16-year-old Eastern European wonderkid has already had an impact with the club-level senior side, and is pencilled in to make his national team debut sooner rather than later.
In any case, he has been the subject of interest to many top clubs, with Barcelona and Real Madrid vying for his signature. The teenager is viewed as the ideal addition to either team’s academy ranks, as Kharebashvili is regarded as one for the future rather than pushed into the first team of these top clubs.
Real Madrid are seen as one of the essential contenders for Kharebashvili, although one cannot discount the threat of Barcelona in this race. However, to compete with the Spanish giants, Liverpool have entered the chase, as the Merseysiders are looking to bring in players they can develop into top stars in the future.
Liverpool are keen on Saba Kharebashvili
Liverpool are expected to hunt for a new left-back in the summer, amid links with Milos Kerkez as their main target. The Merseyside outfit are also eager to bring an up-and-coming left-back from the academy, and with the growing emphasis on academy-level transfers, they could move for Kharebashvili as a potential high-level target.
Liverpool must compete with Real Madrid and Barcelona, as this race could be fought closely in the background. The Merseysiders may even entice the 16-year-old Eastern European wonderkid via senior goalkeeper Mamardashvili, as having a familiar face could be helpful in this regard.
However, the Spanish giants may also have a big say in the direction of this transfer. Barcelona and Real Madrid often lock horns in the market for highly-rated prodigies, and it is hardly surprising that Kharebashvili is a target for the two La Liga bigwigs.
