Jesus Rodriguez is the best of Diaz and Gakpo
The 19-year-old left-winger is still very much on the fledgling stages of his career. He has just burst onto the scene at Real Betis but he's already showing exciting potential and has become one of the most eye catching players to watch in La Liga.
Since January, he has started seven games in a row in La Liga and has one goal and one assist. Those are not exactly massively impressive numbers for a winger but in fairness to him Betis have only won four of those games.
His last game against Real Madrid will be the highlight though with Rodriguez playing a key role in securing a famous 2-1 victory for his side winning a penalty for the winning goal in the game.

We have written about why Rodriguez has shades of Gakpo in the way he likes to drift into the central areas and cut onto his right foot.
That already makes him an ideal profile for Liverpool. But what is also interesting looking at the data is that he has shades of Diaz about him as well.
So far in all competitions for Real Betis he has averaged 8.78 dribbles per 90 minutes - that's 106 dribbles in 1087 minutes.
Impressively, he has won 62.3% of his attempted dribbles as well, which is a really high and productive success rate.
Diaz is undoubtedly Liverpool's best player when it comes to dribbling and taking players on one vs one. It's an area where Slot will likely want to enhance his team's attack because apart from Diaz, the rest of his attacking options at the moment aren't necessarily renowned for their dribbling prowess.

This makes Liverpool's interest in Rodriguez all the more interesting. He has a profile that Slot likes. He can cut in effectively from the left onto his right foot - and has done so with impressive results at academy level.
At the same time, he's an absolute machine on the left side. He can run up and down the wing and torment defenders with his dribbling ability.
It's easy to see why Liverpool's scouts have been impressed by him.
He's raw, there is no denying that but he has exciting potential and whether Liverpool can get a deal over the line for him will likely just depend on the price.

If Betis do not demand an extortionate fee, Rodriguez could be a really smart purchase from Liverpool.
