Oddly enough, Newcastle United could need a new striker this summer.
While few would doubt that Newcastle United star Alexander Isak is among the very best in the world, the options behind the superstar Swede do not look particularly convincing.
Callum Wilson has been a prolific player for the club but cannot be trusted to stay fit. Indeed, it also remains to be seen just how so many ailments over the years have left his body.
Wilson is out of contract at the end of the season too, with a decision yet to be made on his future.
William Osula is an exciting talent but has rarely been trusted by Eddie Howe, albeit perhaps that could change as his career progresses.
Isak himself isn’t free of injury concerns, either. As good as he may be, Isak has struggled with knocks and niggles throughout his time at St James’ Park.
With that in mind, perhaps the signing of a reliable back-up makes sense. Newcastle have been linked with Liam Delap and a relatively new name has now emerged too.

The Italian international struggled to convince at Everton between 2019 and 2023 but has found form with the Serie A club.
Kean has scored 19 goals in 31 appearances across all competitions this season and the report claims such form has attracted the interest of Newcastle.
While the 25-year-old is not thought to be their leading target at this stage, it’s thought he fits the profile of attacking player the club are looking for.
It’s also understood the Italian has a release clause in his contract worth around £44million.
Moise Kean rebuilt his career after Duncan Ferguson call
Newcastle have been interested in Kean before, albeit he now looks a different level of player entirely.
Often touted as a promising young talent, it has not been an easy rise to the top.
In fact, former Newcastle striker Duncan Ferguson infamously substituted Kean only 18 minutes after bringing him off the bench in the first place during his temporary stint in charge of Everton in a game against Manchester United in 2019.
That could well have wrecked a young man’s confidence but Kean has responded well and now looks in the form of his life.
