Man City were too slow against Nottingham Forest, admits Guardiola

Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola said his side were too slow against Nottingham Forest after his side lost out due to a late winner from Callum Hudson-Odoi.

City’s lack of clinicalness in front of goal has seen them score just once in their last three Premier League games, though their chance creation remains a threat.

Against Nottingham Forest, Guardiola’s side had 14 shots including a Nico Gonzalez strike that hit the post when the game was yet to see a goal, as well as owning 69% of the ball too.

But, with just three shots on target, it was Forest who came out on top as Guardiola blamed his side for being too slow.

He said: “We were a little slow in our process, we struggled to make chances but I always give credit to the opponent because they defended really well. Everyone was so connected.

"Our game was a little bit slow, we couldn't make contact with the final third and when we arrived in the final third we didn't have the brilliance.

"It's the way we played and something that we have to come back to, to recover, to win games, to do what we have to do. To create actions, we have to do the process quicker and better.

"To find a way we have to play better. We have to do something, it will not come from the sky.

"Of course, the situation is what it is. Ten games left, next Saturday Brighton and after we will see what happens. We have to win games. We don't win enough games in a row to be secure, we have to win a lot of games to qualify."

City and Guardiola will now look ahead at the visit of Brighton before travelling south to face Bournemouth at the end of the month.
