Heading into the NFL offseason, the Las Vegas Raiders are looking to bring in talent. They are fed up with losing and missing the playoffs.
Already, the Raiders have made a major change. Due to coming up short of the expectations and once again having a disappointing season, head coach Antonio Pierce was let go and he was replaced by Pete Carroll.
Carroll is being brought in to replace the previous culture in Las Vegas. He will be asked to build the team back to being a playoff contender.
He's capable of doing his part to make that happen, but the roster must be improved.
To that end, the Raiders are being linked to a major move that would see them steal a key star from the AFC West rival Kansas City Chiefs.
Jeff Kerr of CBS Sports has named Las Vegas as one of the top potential fits for Chiefs' star linebacker Nick Bolton. He has been a productive player in Kansas City, but he has also been a major leader for the Chiefs.
"An underrated player at his position, Bolton has been a consistently good player on the Chiefs defense during their Super Bowl runs," Kerr wrote. "He finished with 106 tackles and 3.0 sacks to go with six passes defensed. Bolton had 100+ tackles in three of his four seasons, providing great value for the Chiefs as a second-round pick."
Kerr also noted that letting him walk could end up being a major mistake for Kansas City.
"Excellent against the run, Bolton is a strong player at the MIKE. The Chiefs may just let him go elsewhere (as they have with back-seven players in the past), but that may not be the best decision."
Bolton would be a big upgrade for the Raiders and would help take their defense to the next level.
