Newly acquired Dallas Mavericks superstar Anthony Davis has been sidelined due to an adductor strain he re-aggravated in his debut game with his new team. Davis was having another impactful year with the Los Angeles Lakers before being traded, averaging 25.7 points and 11.9 rebounds per game on 52.8% shooting.
The Mavericks announced on Friday that Davis is improving daily and has progressed to more on-court activities, but remains without a timeline for return (h/t NBA). As the mixed emotions came from this announcement for the Mavericks fanbase, another report on Friday revealed some major insight into Davis' potential future.
ESPN's Shams Charania revealed on Friday that the former No. 1 pick out of Kentucky may not play again this season.
"It's very possible that Anthony Davis has played his last game this season for the Mavericks," Charania said. "As an organization, they have to weigh the risk/reward of Anthony Davis playing potentially in meaningless or in Play-In games late this season."

On the same day this report surfaced, the Mavericks uploaded a YouTube interview where Davis sent a strong message to Mavericks fans.
"I know the city was down because of the Luka thing, but at the same time, I know who I am as a player," Davis detailed. "I'm top-75 of all-time. I mean I just wanted to let the Dallas fans know I'm here, I got y'all… I know you lost a superstar in Luka, but you also gained a superstar in myself."
