Former Patriot TE Set to Sign Three-Year Extension With Bengals

Mike Gesicki, a former New England tight end, has found a new home with the Cincinnati Bengals. According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Gesicki is nearing a three-year, $25.5 million contract extension with Cincinnati.

The #Bengals are closing in on a deal to bring back a key free agent, as TE Mike Gesicki is expected to return, sources say.

After a rough season in New England, Gesicki signed a one-year, $2.5 million prove-it deal with the Bengals last offseason. Playing alongside All-Pro quarterback Joe Burrow, Gesicki had his best season since 2019 in Miami. He finished 2024 with 65 receptions, 665 receiving yards, and two touchdowns.

Now, he's earned a long-term contract extension. With Tee Higgins and Ja'Marr Chase's contracts up next, this marks just the first step in Cincinnati's efforts to lock down their pass-catching corps.

However, the process won't be easy. Chase could land the largest non-quarterback contract in football, while Higgins was given the Franchise Tag for the second year in a row. Trade talks surrounding Higgins are likely, but Cincinnati has turned down all offers so far.

For New England, Gesicki's rebound highlights the difference between quarterbacks like Joe Burrow and Mac Jones. In his lone season with the Patriots, Gesicki only managed 29 receptions, 244 yards, and two touchdowns.
