Jakarta: The death toll from flash floods and landslides in Sukabumi Regency in Indonesia's West Java province has risen to three, with five others still missing, a senior official said on Friday.

"Three bodies have been recovered, while five others are still being searched for," Vivi Silvia C, press officer at the provincial Disaster Management and Mitigation Agency, told Xinhua.
Silvia said that search and rescue operations would resume on Saturday and continue for seven days following standard procedures, adding that the operation period could be extended if necessary.

A risk assessment is currently underway to determine the precise impact of the natural disaster, Silvia noted.
She also said that parts of the roads buried by landslide debris have been cleared, with heavy machinery deployed to assist in the cleanup.
The disaster damaged 26 houses and caused the collapse of one bridge, she added.
