There's an interesting conundrum hitting some of the talented edge rushers in the game today.
In a loaded incoming draft class with edge and defensive line help, many organizations have to determine whether they should move forward with an incoming rookie or simply sign a veteran presence around the league.
Such is the case with the Philadelphia Eagles.
The Eagles are expected to lose edge rushers Josh Sweat, Brandon Graham and defensive tackle Milton Williams this offseason. Those are three key players along the defensive line to varying degrees of both free agency and retirement.
But with Myles Garrett requesting a trade from the Cleveland Browns, Joey Bosa released Thursday by the Los Angeles Chargers, and Harold Landry getting cut by the Tennessee Titans, the Eagles have a plethora of edge rushers to choose from in free agency should they make a move.
With the incoming draft class incredibly talented, though, Philadelphia could simply opt to move forward with ignoring the free agent groups and instead choosing to move with whoever they end up drafting.
If they were to go the free agent route, though, Bosa and Landry are two intriguing options. Landry has recorded 50 sacks in his first six seasons with the Titans. Bosa, on the other hand, has 72 sacks in nine years but has struggled mightily with injuries in each of the last three.
Philadelphia can go a number of different ways and their low cap number is something that could alter what they end up wanting to do at this point.
But there's also plenty of stars to choose from if they want.
