Cowboys WR Sends Message to Team Ahead of Free Agency

Brandin Cooks is gearing up for free agency, but the veteran wide receiver is still open to return to the Dallas Cowboys.

Cooks has spent the last two seasons with the Cowboys, coming over via a 2023 trade from the Houston Texans. He's been a decent producer, although he hasn't hit the 1,000-yard mark in a Cowboys uniform. In 26 games, Cooks has collected 80 receptions for 916 yards.

Cooks dealt with a knee issue last season that sidelined him for a bit, but the 31-year-old says he's fully healthy and ready to explore free agency. That said, a return to Dallas also remains on the table.

"I'm expecting a good free agency since this is the first time that I would be a free agent in my career. But I'm also open to returning to Dallas," Cooks told NFL insider Josina Anderson. "At the end of the day I'm just trying to win. I am fully healthy and have nothing to hide."

Cooks also expressed frustration with his role in the Cowboys' offense. If he returns, he hopes the team will adjust how they utilize him.

"I have a good relationship with Dak (Prescott), the Jones family and CeeDee (Lamb)," Cooks said. "I would love to play with the Cowboys. At the same time they would have to use me right. I don't think they fully used me to my strengths."

Spotrac projects Cooks' market value at $5.2 million per season-an affordable price for the Cowboys as they look to bolster their wide receiver depth behind Lamb.
