Liverpool have reportedly developed a strong interest in Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak. The Reds are among several clubs said to be eyeing up the Swedish forward, who has emerged as one of the world's leading No.9s.

Isak has scored 22 goals in all competitions for the Magpies this season, playing a key role in their journey to the Carabao Cup final and a potential top four finish. Arne Slot's side are likely to face the Sweden international in next weekend's cup final after he was declared fit to feature against West Ham on Monday night following an injury concern.

Recent reports have claimed that there is interest from Merseyside in the striker. It is said that potential rivals for his signature, Arsenal, would be forced to sell as many as two stars to help finance a move for him, making it easier for the Reds to steal a march in the race to sign him.

And The Independent's Miguel Delaney has claimed that Isak will be in high demand this summer, with Liverpool's interest said to be growing in the forward. He adds that Arsenal are less likely to sign him due to his £150million price tag.

"Everyone wants Isak, with Liverpool having developed particularly strong interest," he said. "Arsenal are currently seen as less likely to sign him because of that potential price - possibly up to £150m or maybe even more.

"If Isak decided to leave, he really would have his pick. Clubs like Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are already looking at ways to put together some kind of attractive offer. It makes it all the more important for Newcastle to get back into the Champions League."
