Top Shedeur Sanders Landing Spots With Raiders Trading for Geno Smith

Shedeur Sanders is one of the most polarizing prospects in this year's NFL draft.

Along with being Deion Sanders's son, he is considered one of the top quarterback prospects in the draft along with Cam Ward. However, many draft experts view this year's quarterback class as weak, making Sanders not necessarily worth an early pick.

That makes his potential draft slot widely variant, given if most of the quarterback-needy teams at the top of the draft pass on him, he could fall a full round or even more.

One of the more popular landing spots for Sanders was the Las Vegas Raiders, who have the No. 6 pick in the draft.

Raiders part-owner and legendary NFL quarterback Tom Brady has been a mentor of his over the past few years, so many NFL experts believed the Raiders would be happy to draft the young QB out of Colorado.

However, the team traded for Geno Smith from the Seattle Seahawks, uniting the QB with his former head coach Pete Carroll.

Caroll, who is now 73 years old, understandably wants to win right away, which he made clear in his first press conference as Raiders head coach.

All of that seems to indicate the Raiders, widely considered the most likely landing spot for Sanders, are out of the picture. That leads to an interesting conversation about where he could now land.

Here are the top three potential landing spots left for Shedeur Sanders.

3. New York Giants

The New York Giants are in desperate need of a quarterback after moving on from Daniel Jones.

Brian Daboll has been the head coach for three years now. After making the playoffs and beating the Minnesota Vikings, the team has looked awful ever since.

Owner John Mara seemed to indicate both Daboll and general manager Joe Schoen are on the hot seat this season in a press conference after the season, so it is likely the team will make a big swing at quarterback.

Sanders is a big name due to his solid play at Colorado. That star power would be a good fit in New York, as, unlike other potential rookie quarterbacks, he is used to the attention.

2. New York Jets

Speaking of New York, the Jets are also in big need of a quarterback.

They moved on from Aaron Rodgers this offseason, and with a new coaching staff led by former Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Aaron Glenn, a young quarterback seems like a logical start to their rebuild.

The Jets could be starting a full rebuild, so it makes more sense to put all their chips into a rookie quarterback, whether at pick No. 7 or in the second round.

The Jets have some good pieces on defense, such as Sauce Gardner, and also have some solid weapons on offense, like Garrett Wilson and Breece Hall, so Sanders would be in a solid situation to succeed.

1. Cleveland Browns

Based on reports, the Browns seem the most interested in Sanders among the teams at the top of the draft. With the second overall pick in the draft and the whole debacle with Deshaun Watson, they seem almost certain to draft a quarterback.

With the top pick Tennessee Titans also in need of a quarterback, if Cam Ward goes first overall, the Browns seem very likely to take Sanders right after.

While not as good of a situation as either New York team, the Browns are in a full rebuild and don't look like they will be competing again anytime soon with Myles Garrett requesting a trade.

They should give the young QB plenty of time to develop and also could benefit from the attention he would bring to a small market organization.

While the Raiders originally made the most sense for Shedeur Sanders, there are still other teams that serve as potential landing spots in the NFL draft.
