Arsenal are on the verge of appointing Andrea Berta as the new sporting director to replace Brazilian Edu Gaspar, who departed the club earlier in the season. The Gunners have been actively searching for a successor, with an official announcement expected ahead of the summer transfer window.
Currently sitting 16 points behind Premier League leaders Liverpool, Arsenal remain in the title race with two games in hand. They are set to face Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday evening, following their historic 7-1 demolition of PSV Eindhoven in the Champions League round of 16 at the Philips Stadion on Tuesday.
According to an earlier report from Fabrizio Romano, the former Atlético Madrid sporting director emerged as the leading candidate for the role. Now, Italian journalist Matteo Moretto has confirmed that Berta will indeed be Arsenal’s next sporting director, with an agreement already in place for his move to North London.

Berta, renowned for his eye for talent and squad-building expertise, played a crucial role in transforming Atlético Madrid into a powerhouse in Spanish and European football.
