The Kansas City Chiefs entered the offseason with one glaring issue that cost them the Super Bowl: The offensive line. The Chiefs secured Pro Bowl offensive guard Trey Smith but had to trade Joe Thuney to the Chicago Bears to get under the cap before free agency.
The loss of a four-time All-Pro guard is significant on a unit that had to move Thuney to left tackle after benching second-year OT Wanya Morris and rookie Kingsley Suamataia during the season.

Per Nate Taylor of The Athletic, the Chiefs were set to target Baltimore Ravens OT Ronnie Stanley in free agency to secure their left tackle spot.
“When free agency begins, the Chiefs will target Ronnie Stanley, the nine-year veteran who is the best left tackle available on the market, according to sources,” Taylor wrote. “Stanley’s experience and value, in both the run and pass game when healthy, are why the Chiefs believe he can be a major upgrade at the position and also be a dependable starter for multiple years. After all, the Chiefs have started a different left tackle in each of their five Super Bowl appearances over the last six years.”
Numerous other outlets suggested Stanley would have been a great fit for the Chiefs. However, Stanley is hitting free agency on March 12.

Per Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, the Ravens agreed to a three-year deal worth $60 million.
“TheRavens and LT Ronnie Stanley agree to terms on a 3-year, $60M deal, setting the tackle market and keeping him in Baltimore,” Rapoport posted on X.

At 30, Stanley has been with the Ravens since they selected him with the No. 6 pick in the 2016 NFL Draft. He earned All-Pro honors in 2019 and has made two Pro Bowl appearances. Including one for 2024. A standout for Notre Dame, Stanley has appeared and started in 104 games in his career.
The Chiefs will have to explore other options at LT next week after losing their top target days before free agency is set to begin.
