Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Ian Book is now a free agent. Book, who was on the practice squad through the team’s Super Bowl run, had his contract expire a week after the game. He can sign anywhere after the Eagles did not ink him to a new contract.
Book, who the Eagles signed in December with Jalen Hurts and Kenny Pickett injured, joined Philadelphia’s active roster for a bit over two weeks before being waived and re-signing to their practice squad.
Book was a fourth-round pick by the New Orleans Saints in the 2021 NFL Draft but lasted just one season with the Saints before they cut ties. Since then, Book has bounced around the NFL, playing for the Kansas City Chiefs, New England Patriots, and the Eagles twice, once in 2022 and then in 2024.
The Notre Dame star stayed with the Fighting Irish from 2016 to 2020. In his NFL career, he has just 135 passing yards and two interceptions with zero touchdowns. Book, 26, will look to find a new team for his fifth NFL season.
