Final Decision Made on Disturbing Chiefs Domestic Violence Case

Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver Xavier Worthy, who was arrested and booked Friday night on felony domestic violence charges, will not be charged in the case as the Williamson County District Attorney's Office has declined to prosecute the matter.

Worthy, who played collegiately at Texas, maintains a presence in a suburb of Austin called Georgetown. He was originally picked up and spent the night in jail after being booked on assault against a family or household member by impeding their breathing or circulation, which is a third-degree felony in Texas.

District Attorney Shawn Dick said on Saturday night after doing their due diligence on the matter, which included interviewing several eye witnesses, his office will not be prosecuting the case.

"After further investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff's Office and further discussion with a third-party witness, Mr. Worthy and his attorneys, this case is being declined at this time pending completion of the investigation by the Williamson County Sheriff's Office," Dick's office said to The Austin American-Stateman in an email. "Mr. Worthy and his lawyers are fully cooperating with this investigation."

Kansas City general manager Brett Veach talked about Worthy at the NFL Scouting Combine two weeks ago and discussed how happy he was with his progress.

"The last two years, we've added two great receivers. It's a shame Rashee (Rice) got hurt because I think he had a chance to be a top-10 receiver, and then the progress (Xavier) Worthy made last year, I think those guys will be a dynamic combination. We'll see if we can get Hollywood back. But again, receiver will be a position too that we never shy away from," Veach said.
