Why isn’t Chelsea vs Leicester on TV in UK? How to watch Premier League game

Chelsea are on a mission to secure European football for the upcoming season as they prepare to take on a beleaguered Leicester City at Stamford Bridge. The Blues' Premier League campaign has been inconsistent so far, but they remain within striking distance of the top four.

With 46 points from their 27 Premier League matches, including 13 victories and seven draws, Enzo Maresca's team is unlikely to challenge for the title by the end of the 2024/25 season. However, they are certainly aiming to qualify for either the Champions League or at least the Europa League next season. With two victories in their last five league matches, Chelsea will be looking to make a strong push in their remaining 11 games to secure a top-five finish, which should guarantee them a spot in Europe's premier club competition.

On the other hand, Leicester are in a starkly different situation, hoping to stave off relegation to the Championship. Ruud van Nistelrooy has struggled to change Leicester's fortunes since replacing Steve Cooper in December, managing just two wins from 14 games in charge.

Despite cruising through the Championship last season under Maresca, their first season back in the Premier League without their former manager – who left for Chelsea in the summer – has been marred by an inability to compete with the division's more established teams. Leicester's current struggles are highlighted by a four-match losing streak in the league, during which they have failed to score a single goal.

This includes 4-0 defeats to both Everton and Brentford, reports the Mirror. As we approach the showdown at Stamford Bridge, Express.co.uk provides all football fans need to know about following the match – including why it won't be broadcast live across the UK.

Why isn't Chelsea vs Leicester City being shown on TV in the UK?

Chelsea's match against Leicester City kicks off at 2pm on Sunday but it won't be aired on Sky Sports. Instead, the broadcaster has chosen to show Tottenham Hotspur's match against Bournemouth in north London at the same time. Sky Sports will also show Manchester United's 4.30pm face-off with Arsenal at Old Trafford.

How can you watch Chelsea vs Leicester City?

While overseas fans may still be able to watch the action live, depending on their local Premier League TV rights holders, UK fans won't have access unless they've secured a ticket at Stamford Bridge. Instead, UK supporters will have to wait until Sky Sports posts video highlights on YouTube shortly after the final whistle, tune into Match of the Day 2 on Sunday evening, or catch extended highlights of the game on Sky Sports later that evening.

BBC Radio 5 Live will offer pre-match build-up and live audio coverage of the game, as well as providing the same service for United's clash with the Gunners at the Theatre of Dreams immediately afterwards. Starting from the upcoming season, all Sunday 2pm matches will be broadcasted on UK TV, thanks to a fresh rights agreement with the Premier League. However, the traditional 3pm blackout on Saturday afternoons is set to continue for the foreseeable future.
