David Moyes is disappointed Everton have been unable to turn the last three draws into wins after another game in which his team missed chances to take three points. He conceded Wolves were the better side on Saturday night and said that, ultimately, he was pleased with a valuable point from a tough away trip.

Yet there was also some frustration, with Jose Sa’s late save from Beto preventing another away win under Moyes. Had the BLues shown the same ruthlessness they started his tenure with, they could have six more points and be on the cusp of the top half.

Instead, Everton and their manager had to settle for a hard-fought 1-1 draw at Molineux after Marshall Munetsi cancelled out Jack Harrison’s opener.

After the match, Moyes said: “I'm really pleased with the point. I don't think we played the best tonight, but I think we showed the club has got resilience. It was tough, they made it hard. I don't think Wolves created loads of chances, but they were the better side and we stuck at it.

“We still made one or two opportunities, but tonight was always going to be an incredibly difficult game with what Wolves are playing for - staying in the Premier League. They are fighting for those points so hard, like we have been in recent games at Goodison. So I knew exactly how tough it would be.”

Moyes has spent recent weeks calling for greater attacking output from wingers Harrison and Jesper Lindstrom - neither of whom had grabbed a goal or an assist this season. He was, therefore, delighted when they combined for the opener.

The Blues boss said: “We can't keep expecting Beto [to score]. We need Jesper and Jack to come up with the goals and Jack's got one today, which I'm pleased about. He scored a few goals in his time at Leeds United, so he knows how to do it and I'm glad he got one tonight.”

Moyes was disappointed to concede a poor goal so soon after taking the lead, though accepted Wolves created problems - particularly down the Everton left.

He added: “I still thought we could have probably tidied it up, it looked a bit ugly from our point of view, but overall, look, Wolves played well. I didn't think we gave up too many opportunities, but unfortunately that one they took.”

There remained a tinge of disappointment the Blues had not taken more from the games against Manchester United, Brentford and then this clash - though, asked if he would have taken the eight-game unbeaten league run his side are currently on, Moyes said: “If you had given me that before I came in I would have been saying you were off your head. The other thing is we're actually quite disappointed the last three games have been drawn.

"Today, I see it slightly different. I think today's a good point. The other two games I was thinking we could have probably had more from. Today’s game I think we had to dig deep to keep the point and the players showed something which maybe they hadn't been doing before - they stuck at it.”
