Crystal Palace attacking midfielder wanted by EFL side this summer

Walsall are keen on a loan move for Crystal Palace attacking midfielder Hindolo Mustapha for next season, according to journalist Alan Nixon on his Patreon page.

Walsall have identified the youngster as a potential addition for the summer. They are currently eyeing promotion from League Two.

Mustapha, 18, has risen up through the academy ranks at Crystal Palace and has been a regular for the Premier League side at various different youth levels. He has made 22 appearances in all competitions for their Under-21’s side and has chipped in with eight goals and three assists.

In this latest update regarding his situation, reporter Nixon has claimed on Patreon that the Saddlers want to lure him to the Midlands on a temporary basis later this year. They will be hoping that they will be playing in League One by then.

Walsall remain top of the table but have seen their form slump recently. They are two points clear of Bradford City in 2nd with 10 fixtures left to play as they look to get over the line.

Walsall could see Mustapha as someone to bolster their attacking ranks ahead of the next campaign.

The prospect would give them something different going forward.

He initially broke into Crystal Palace’s Under-18’s side before making the step up to their Under-21’s.

The teenager is yet to make a senior appearance for their first-team but will be hoping to get some minutes with Oliver Glasner’s side down the line.

For now though, he would benefit from getting some senior football experience under his belt and a switch to Walsall would be ideal.

Crystal Palace handed Mustapha his first professional deal in January last year. He told their website at the time: “It’s a good feeling [to have signed]. It’s everyone’s dream to get a pro contract. I’ve worked hard and I’m glad to have got it.”

Academy coach Rob Quinn added: “Hindo has shown his qualities to help the team by contributing with both goals and assists. He is really exciting to watch when breaking play up and travelling with the ball with speed.

“He has been at the club since he was eight years old, so this a great reward for all of his and his family’s hard work since then.”

Time will tell whether Walsall end up landing Mustapha.
