CLEVELAND, Ohio — The Cavs became the NBA’s first team in the NBA to clinch a playoff spot when they beat the Miami Heat Wednesday night to raise their record to 52-10 with 20 games left in the regular season.
At this pace, it’s possible that the Cavs could beat the team record of 66 regular-season wins, which was accomplished in 2008-09, when the Cavs were led by LeBron James.
The Cavs expect to have their hands full trying to stop Milwaukee, which is led by Giannis Antetokounmpo and Damian Lillard. Recently, the Cavs have been winning despite digging themselves early holes from which they’ve managed to emerge by way of clutch fourth-quarter shooting and scrappy defense.
