West Ham striker Danny Ings could be on the move in the summer transfer window, as fellow Premier League outfit Southampton are set to re-ignite their interest in the forward.
Ings previously plied his trade for Southampton in the Premier League, and showed his goal-scoring prowess for the Hampshire side before joining Aston Villa in August 2021.
The former England international subsequently joined West Ham in January 2023, but he has struggled to make an impact at the London Stadium, scoring just five goals in 68 appearances.

As reported by the Sunday Mirror (page 70, 9 March), Southampton will be revisiting their move for West Ham striker Ings come the January transfer window.
The Saints wanted to sign the former Villa man from the Hammers , but their swoop never materialised before the January transfer window shut.

The Mirror’s report adds that Ings does not fit in with new West Ham boss Graham Potter’s long-term plans, while Southampton remain keen on returning the striker to the south coast.
Former Liverpool forward Ings is yet to make a Premier League start since Potter took the managerial reins at the London Stadium back in January, while he was an unused substitute during recent wins over Arsenal and Leicester.

Tammy Abraham is linked with a move to West Ham United.
West Ham will have to move Ings on in order to land Tammy Abraham signing
Southampton’s continued interest in Ings should come as no surprise, given that the Saints are set to make an unwanted return to the Championship.
The striker’s West Ham exploits clearly show that his best Premier League days are in the past, but there is every chance that he would still be a prolific attacker at second tier level.
Meanwhile, as Potter looks to reshape his own Hammers squad, after inheriting players signed by former managers such as Julen Lopetegui and David Moyes, the London Stadium side are plotting a move of their own for Roma striker Tammy Abraham, who is currently on loan with fellow Serie A giants AC Milan.
In order to help pave the way for the potential arrival of the former Chelsea man, West Ham must look to sanction the exit of Ings, who has never met expectations since moving to East London from Aston Villa back in 2023.
