Lennon Miller is reportedly a target for Tony Bloom at Brighton – but they want to send him to a sister club first before unleashing him on the Premier League.
The Motherwell playmaker is viewed as one of Scottish football's great white hopes for the future and it's a matter of when rather than if he'll get a big move. The only question is where he goes. Record Sport understands Celtic retain an active interest despite failing with a January bid, while Udinese also had an offer kicked out and could come back to the table.
Selling in the summer makes sense for Motherwell with Miller set to enter the final year on his contract. And there could now be a bidding war brewing with the news that Brighton, headed up by Tony Bloom and his algorithm-led recruitment strategy, are keen. There is, however, a pretty major catch.
According to the Scottish Sun, Bloom's grand plan for Miller involves their sister club Union St-Gilloise first signing him in a £5m deal. The intention would be for him to spend a season in Belgium and playing in European football before making a future switch to Brighton.
The feeling is that the 18-year-old isn't ready just yet to be let loose on arguably the best league in the world. But they feel a move to Belgium first would offer enough of a step up in quality to prepare him for the move down the line.

Union are known for their ability to identify emerging talent and sell on for major profit and Miller could be the latest. That would mean the likelihood of Motherwell landing two major paydays for their key man – an initial move in the region of £5m, and a cut of the secondary transfer in future.
